Daniella Zulkifili

President: 2023 - 2025

Daniella was part of the advocacy team behind the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2022 and the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2016, and she continues to push for stronger enforcement mechanisms under both pieces of legislation. She served as Co-Chairperson of the National Young Lawyers Committee from 2015 to 2016, and was a steering committee member of the Gender Equality Initiative, a joint project by AWL and the Bar Council to raise awareness among law students.

Her current advocacy work includes a campaign to end child marriage and active participation in Projek30%, led by EMPOWER, a campaign to increase women's representation in Malaysian politics.

As President of AWL from 2023 to 2025, Daniella brought energy, directness, and a deep commitment to ensuring that AWL's work remained grounded in the lived experiences of women navigating the legal system and Malaysian society.

Daniella Zulkifili is a lawyer by training and a reformer by calling. With nearly fifteen years of involvement in civil society movements, she has consistently used the law as a tool for justice, with a particular focus on gender equality, human rights, and the reform of laws and systems that have long failed the people they were meant to protect.
